This Foxrock home has a gym, an orangery and a garden designed by two award-winners

Once rented out as an embassy, Waverley is now on sale for almost €8.5 million.

THERE’S NO DENYING that some of the homes around the Dublin 18 area of Foxrock are just jaw dropping. Houses in this leafy suburb often have the proportions of stately homes without the rickety single glazed windows or peeling wallpaper.

One such is Waverley, a luxurious home on Westminster Road that was built in 1999 but was extensively upgraded in 2006. This means the next owners will have very little to do when it comes to renovating. No doubt they’d want that to be the case considering that the house is on the market for €8,450,000.

A seven-bed home with just as many bathrooms, it’s hard to know where to start with this 698 m² home on its own acre.

First off, the garden was designed and implemented originally by Diarmuid Gavin, and later taken care of by Paul Doyle – two award winning landscape designers who added playfulness as well as elegance to the space that now home to play areas for the kids, endless areas to entertain in, an open-walled gazebo, a timber gazebo and even a wrought iron pergola.

The luxury continues inside the bay-fronted red brick home, evident as soon as you set foot inside the entrance hall with its elegant staircase, limestone fireplace and solid oak flooring.

From here, a drawing room connects to a dining room through double doors. The east and south facing bay windows fill the spaces up with natural light, emphasising the wall panelling and Barovier et Toso chandeliers with matching wall sconces.

The kitchen is also a sight to behold. Designed Mark Wilkinson, this hand painted kitchen is home to a 3.88m long island, a ceramic Belfast sink and appliances by Gaggenau. Off this space is the utility room, which has another Belfast sink and plenty more storage.

The family room is a Hampton-style orangery with French doors that lead out to the patio area. A separate breakfast room and a living room, as well as a cinema room, complete the ground floor.

From the main hall, travel up the staircase to the bedrooms. Two large bedrooms sit on the second floor alongside a handy laundry room, while the first five bedrooms share the first floor.

The largest has a walk-in wardrobe and a southwest facing bay window. It also has double doors to a large balcony that overlooks the garden. The bathroom has a free-standing bath and the shower is separate.

The remaining six bedrooms each have their own bathrooms.

For the remote or hybrid worker, there is a detached home office on the grounds that’s 38m in size. It comes complete with built-in shelving, air conditioning and a separate toilet with a small storage room.

At the end of the lawn to the back of the house is a detached garden room that’s currently a fully-equipped gym. The walls are mirrored and it’s full of natural light. If the next owners don’t use it as a gym, it would make for wonderful extra accommodation seeing as it also has a washroom.

Not only is the house large enough for privacy, its close proximity from Dublin City centre means getting there couldn’t be easier. With the space along with the elegance throughout, whoever ends up buying Waverley can surely expect a lot of house guests – the only downside is that they’ll have to think of a good excuse if they ever want to say no.

Waverley, Westminster Road, Foxrock, Dublin 18 is on the market for €8,450,000 through Sherry Fitzgerald.

Arkham Knight! I’ll have to ask Santa nicely for a PS4 console now. I can always wish… Failing that I can sell crack to blind kids & make a few bob that way.

Uncharted and LBP3 look amazing. The Order could be promising
Other than that it was just multiplatform stuff. (Far cry and AC Unity also look great).

That being said there isnt much to encourage me to but a PS4 until this time next year

Nothing about Bloodborne? Considering the director is the same guy who did Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls 1 you’d think there’d be more attention about it…

Really? The trailer bored the arse off me quite frankly. I know Kojima likes his long, theatrical…well, everything, but this was just obscure. Am I the only one that has no idea what the mechanical arm is about? Is Snake the guy that killed Harrison Ford’s wife in The Fugitive?

For the love of all that is good, no more multiplayer first person shooters! It’s depressing looking at the state of shelves for the PS4, making me regret ever going next gen from my xbox…

About 3 games look good. Rest look crap. MGS looks like it needs to just go away. The Playstation TV looks good, but needs more then just been able to play on different tv’s for me to be interested. But at least Mircosoft built theirs into the Xbone.
