Harvard buildings evacuated after bomb threat at university

Four different buildings are being searched.

Updated 7.40 pm

HARVARD UNIVERSITY HAS evacuated a number of its buildings after receiving what it’s called ”an unconfirmed bomb threat”.

Four buildings have been evacuated and are now being searched by police officers who are now at the scene. An exclusion zone is in place and access has been restricted.

It is believed that the search will take at least a number of hours.

Harvard’s executive vice president Katie Lapp wrote in an email to students, staff and faculty members this afternoon that the bomb threat was made in an email.

“As of this writing, nothing to substantiate the emailed threat has been found. Harvard is working with local and federal law enforcement officials to investigate the source of the threat, which has not yet been determined,” the email read.

It went on to reference the “recent tragic events in locations ranging from Paris to Beirut” and said that the safety of members of the was their “top priority”.

Lapp concluded by saying that they would keep people updated about how the threat develops.

More to follow.

If this proves to be a hoax then the sick individual involved should be locked up for +10years as a deterrent to anyone else who thinks its funny to call in saying there’s a bomb in a building etc. Everyone is on the edge at the moment and this is the last thing people need right now!

Dude, it’s America. They actually have a criminal justice system. The hoaxer, if it is one, will be behind bars for a very long time.

It’s America. They send you to prison if your front lawn grows too long while you’re in hospital.

@Paddy not strong enough sentence! Genuinely I can’t see ISIS attacking Ireland (we haven’t done anything to them plus we weren’t mentioned in their recent plans of destruction) saying that though I can see Ireland being used as a launching pad for this murderers in terms of reaching the UK and mainland Europe which is just as frightening as we may be held accountable along with ISIS for future atrocities that lets be honest will occur (for not apprehending them before they commit the crime) as long as we welcome these ‘refugees’ into Europe! Part of the solution in my opinion is screening these refugees the other part is anyone that comes to the attention of the authorities for terrorist related activities be taken into custody where they are then deported or brought to court and given a fair trial and let the jury decide their faith!

@M you were doing well there until the culmination of your grandstanding was an attack on people desperately fleeing attacks, similar to Paris, on a daily basis.

Trea that’s a fair point I for one have no problem with genuine refugees coming to Europe but the fact that we don’t check any of their backgrounds is ludicrous! Your only asking for trouble.

This is a tactic. They’ll be ringing everyone in Europe with bomb threats. It’s an easy win after the terrible events in France. Large amounts of chaos for the price of a few phone calls.

Yes, North Korea is a paradise. Do they happen to have a J1 programme?

Ireland is safe. That does not mean we should not empathise with the victims in Paris but there is no need for fear in Ireland.
