THE PLAQUE THAT was erected in memory of homeless man Jonathan Corrie has been removed.
Corrie died on Molesworth Street on 1 December last, just metres from the entrance to Leinster House.
Here’s how the door looks today:
Rose Naughton of campaign group Hope4Homeless told TheJournal.ie she believed the plaque had been taken down in early January.
She said Corrie’s children had been “pretty upset” by the move, adding that the memorial had been given to a family member.
Labour Senator Lorraine Higgins, who has been working with Hope4Homeless on some of its initiatives, said whoever took down the plaque has “insulted the memory of Jonathan”.
Corrie’s death led to an emergency summit on homelessness. It was chaired by Environment Minister Alan Kelly and attended by representatives from various interest groups, who agreed on new measures to combat the growing problem.
TheJournal.ie was unsuccessful in its attempts to contact the owners of the building.

@Setanta O’Toole: For the same reason probably that the Ireland’s men’s team would be lucky to win any match if they were in the same group as the 2nd, 3rd and 6th raned teams in the world i.e. France, Belguim and Portugal.

To be fair. This was a great win against a top women’s team. Maybe now they realise that they are better then they think and give them a boost for the next time. Well done ladies.

How does it feel to have failed so miserable in life? There ar3 people all around you, from every part of the country have successfully made a decent life for themselves under the same circumstances you had to live under. You are a bitter failure. The soo wrong you take responsibility for your life the sooner things will improve for you. As long as you bitterly whinge and moan you will always be a miserable failure. Wise up.
