If you cause trouble in Magaluf or Ibiza, you might get nicked by British police

British bobbies are about to start patrolling the Spanish resorts.

IN A TWO-WEEK trial aimed at dealing with unruly holidaymakers, UK police will join Spanish forces patrolling the Balearic resorts of Magaluf and San Antonio.

Magaluf attracts hundreds of thousands of British and Irish tourists each year on package holidays, lured by the promise of easy sex and plentiful alcohol, while Ibiza’s San Antonio also has its own reputation for hedonism.

Two police officers from Britain’s West Midlands force will work alongside Spanish colleagues to help with investigations involving Britons as victims, witnesses or offenders, according to the force and Spain’s Guardia Civil.

An estimated 85% of visitors to Magaluf come from Britain and Ireland.

Last year, a video of an Irish tourist performing a sex act on more than 20 men in a bar in Magaluf went viral.

Local authorities subsequently introduced new rules regulating pub crawls and have also banned “balconing” — jumping from one apartment balcony to another or into a swimming pool — after several deaths in recent years.

“This trial reflects the close cooperation between our two countries on policing and security matters,” said Britain’s ambassador to Spain, Simon Manley.

“The presence of UK police officers will help to remind British holidaymakers of the importance of respecting local laws and customs, ensuring that everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday, free from trouble and crime.”

Spain already carries out international patrols in tourist areas in cooperation with police from Germany, France, Italy, Portugal and Morocco, according to the Guardia Civil.

There’s a growing instability in the North these days. Strong leadership is needed North and South, to prevent the outbreak of violence, and to maintain the peace.

@Frog Náireach: There is peace and there is no chance of the violent past returning. These types of attacks are being carried out by Loyalists against immigrants or other loyalist gang members. They dont threaten the stability of the North.

You see the craziness in the way they drive down here alone. And in their laws where guilt is presumed and innocence must be proven. It’s sui generis. A place apart up there beyond the bogs and rushes and abandoned wastes of North Cavan and Fermanagh. Leave them where they are another 300 years might be fit for civilised company then.

@John O’Driscoll: You on the sauce early tonight then? You sound like a teenage girl trying to imbibe the spirit Seamus Heaney in a bid to sound intellectual. The only abandoned waste here is your own grasp of reality. If you’re an example of this “civilised company” that is lacking everywhere North of Cavan ; then god help us. Pompous little man.

@John O’Driscoll: you do realise your tarring mindset sounds like it’s 300 years old?

More renewable hate initiatives. Never let them in they are different from us. Been too long and would be a disaster. They remember 400 years ago like it was yesterday and every carefully planned insult murder and wrong done since. Done by the “other side” that is. Never their own. Or “mines” as they say in that curious argot.
