US PRESIDENT BARACK Obama has said that a missile fired from rebel-held territory in Ukraine downed a Malaysian passenger jet as he pressed for an international investigation.
Obama said that at least one US citizen was among the 298 dead. The State Department identified the victim as Quinn Lucas Schansman, who also held Dutch nationality.
“Their deaths are an outrage of unspeakable proportions,” Obama told reporters.
“Evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by a surface-to-air missile that was launched from an area that is controlled by Russian-backed separatists inside of Ukraine,” Obama said.
Obama, while saying he was waiting for the full picture, highlighted that the pro-Russian rebels have in the past downed Ukrainian aircraft.
Sanctions
Obama, who earlier this week ramped up sanctions on Russia over the conflict, called on President Vladimir Putin to “take the path that would result in peace in Ukraine”, but warned that more sanctions could be imposed.
“I think it’s important for us to recognize that this outrageous event underscored that it is time for peace and security to be restored in Ukraine,” Obama said.
“Now is, I think, a somber, appropriate time for all of us to step back and take a hard look at what has happened. Violence and conflict inevitably lead to unforeseen consequences,” he said.
I don’t think Russia cares about sanctions. Even if Putin comes out and says he personally pushed the fire button on the missile, Obama won’t do nothing !! He won’t risk all out war so this is all just going to fade away !
Russian sources suggest the radar trace on the missile is tracked to the Ukrainian Army. Fox News sources suggest the radar trace was tracked to Putins office in the Kremlin. So many dead it’s horrific. The blame game won’t bring them back. A proper peace deal and a stop to the aggression by the US IMF puppet regime would have stopped this tragedy.

I’d like to see the death toll American has caused since he took over, how many innocent people die in his drone attacks, how much arms has he supplied to Israel, who gave all the syrian rebels those tanks and machine guns. Every time I see him talk about how devastating the loss of innocent life is a think of all this. The man is a hypocrit plain and simple. Would not shock me if it turned out to be an America backed attack to frame the people fighting against the rape a pillage of their natural resources

Ban every single item coming from Russia, stating with gas, food, chemicals, everything! How did Europe do in the cold war days when we they didn’t depend on Russian gas? import gas from somewhere, even if is 2-3 times dearer, buy more coal from Poland, get alternatives until the Russians pull out of Ukraine and commit in written of a no interference with any European country.
I don’t mind paying more in my energy bill for a while for the greater good, its a sacrifice well worth. But of course… The Germans wants to sell their cars to the Russians, te French their wine, the Spanish their holiday destination and we in Ireland, our mean and dairy products.
We have the power to put a stop to Putin with the blink of an eye but of course, money talks and all what our heads of states will do is yak and moan but protect their own interest.

Why were the planes allowed over a war zone?
That’s a fair question, but anyone who thinks this outrage was carried out by anyone other than pro-Russian rebels using a missile supplied by Russia needs their head examined.
It’s not enough to brush it aside as a tragic error either.
