Batch of peanut butter recalled in Ireland as it may contain 'a foreign body'

The batch could present a choking hazard or public health risk, the FSAI has said.

A COMPANY BASED in England is recalling a batch of peanut butter in Ireland over concerns jars may contain ‘a foreign body’.

The product in question is Suma’s unsalted organic crunchy peanut butter, size 700g.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland said the jars of the product may “contain a foreign body which could represent a choking hazard and a public health risk for those consuming the product”.

Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in stores that were supplied with the implicated batch.

The batch code is L1228 and the jars affected have the best before date, 10 April 2016.
