Peugeot has turned up the style for the new 508

The new Peugeot 508 will debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

THE SALOON MARKET may be taking a pummelling from the SUV segments, but that hasn’t stopped Peugeot from developing a sleek new 508.

A highly distinctive front design features slender headlights that have near-vertical LED daytime running lights extending downwards from them, almost like a pair of illuminated fangs. The sharp looks don’t end there. A detailed grille carries the famous Lion emblem, but Peugeot is adding a retro touch by adding the 508 badge to the front of the bonnet.

Sitting in the cabin reveals a familiar look with the latest version of the company’s i-Cockpit design. A hexagonal steering wheel sits below the 12.2-inch instrument display that sits atop the dashboard and closer to your natural eye-line when driving.

Physical shortcut keys help to control the ten-inch touchscreen in the centre console. Peugeot seems to have also increased the quality of the materials used throughout the cabin.

Newspress Newspress

As is the case with the current range of Peugeot models, the 508 will be available with numerous driver assistance and safety systems. Autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, road sign recognition and adaptive cruise control with a Stop & Go feature will be among the various technologies available.

It will use the same mechanical underpinnings as the 3008 and 5008 SUVs. In comparison to the outgoing 508, this new model weighs around 70kg less, which should help fuel economy and emissions.

Newspress Newspress

A new 1.6-litre petrol engine with 180hp will be available in addition to a more powerful 225hp version. While talk of diesel’s demise continues, it remains the most popular choice in this segment, so the 508 will also have a 130hp 1.5-litre and larger 2.0-litre diesel with 160- and 180hp.

The new 508 will be launched later this year after making its debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

They really need to start treating these people with the contempt they deserve. A good beating seams to be the only discipline they might understand.

The story didn’t say it was a break in. I thought he was a resident in house or a relative etc. Different story to defending and rightly so against some robbing baxterd

And perhaps you will also note I did not mention “break in” either.

Yet another home invasion. Only last week a couple in St.Louis, a father shot dead an intruder and injured another that entered their home (The thugs has used his teenage daughter as a shield.) I guess they won’t be getting the chance to do that to another family again. But Irish media including the Journal will never report on those type of stories.
