Unsustainable house prices in Dublin pushing people out

A report released by the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) has said that a lack of affordable housing in Dublin is leading to unsustainable long-distance commutes for many Dublin workers.

Older people moving to smaller houses could help the housing crisis

A study by the Irish Longitudinal Study on Aging says that a large proportion of older people live alone in houses with extra rooms, and that moving to smaller homes could help with the housing crisis.

  • The Waterford Marina Hotel has sold for more than 25% above its asking price - a sign that the regional hotel market is improving, according to a report in the Irish Independent. The hotel sold for €4 million, with a guide price of €3.2 million. 
  • Most people don’t regret downsizing their family homes to smaller houses, according to an article in the Irish Times. The regret felt most often is around leaving the family home rather than living somewhere smaller, the report says.
