This week’s vital property news: Housing prices are on the up... again

Everything you need to know in one quick guided tour.

Daft Daft

HOUSES ARE LESS affordable than ever according to the CSO, although they’re still not back at their property price boom level.

Meanwhile, Minister Alan Kelly’s rent certainty proposal is being strongly opposed – although it’s not officially off the table yet.

Here is all the week’s property news.

The Big Movers

House prices rising again

House prices around the country are once again on the rise according to the CSO. While they are not at their pre-property crash levels, there has been a nationwide increase of 1.3% –  which is an increase of 8.9% compared to September 2014.

Rent certainty not looking good

Trouble abounds for Minister Alan Kelly’s rent certainty proposal, which has been strongly opposed by some Fine Gael TDs. While Tánaiste Joan Bruton has refused to comment on whether it is off the table entirely, it’s looking like Kelly is not going to get what he wants in the face of strong opposition from Michael Noonan.
