Row between HSE and agency staff could affect surgeries

Agency staff at hospitals have been advised not to present themselves for works after the HSE announced plans to cut their rate of pay.

ELECTIVE SURGERIES AT some hospitals might have to be postponed because of a standoff between the HSE and agency nursing staff.

Following a decision by the HSE to reduce the rates of pay for agency and support staff, some nursing unions have advised members not to agree to work for lower rates.

RTÉ reports that 14 of the 16 agency midwives at Cork University Hospital announced that they were unavailable for work today. The HSE confirmed that a small number hospitals may need to reschedule elective surgeries.

The HSE says it will save €40 million a year by cutting the pay rates for support staff.

IrishHealth.ie reports that agency staff are being used in large numbers to fill in for staff vacancies.

It’s just ridiculous/cynical at this stage. Every time there’s a pay out to Anglo bond holders they arrest someone high profile. Fill the newspapers with this rubbish for two days then let them go and no one will notice we just paid out billions on unsecured bonds

The local gougers don’t attract that amount of press attention.

You’ll notice they’ve also erected barriers to presumably stop photographers from stomping all over the front of the station.
it’s not unusual for the gards to escort someone for their own safety.
do you think all those burly detectives escorting Larry murphy from prison were doing that as a favour ?

I reckon Ivor has been elected official scapegoat – he’s the “lamb” to the slaughter and will be prosecuted and sent down!!! They’ll use him as an excuse that “oh we did indeed prosecute – didn’t Callely go to prison for X time”…… and that’ll get wheeled out every time anyone asks about any of the bigger boys who are still living in the laps of luxury – we (rightly) complain when gov advisers are paid over the proposed salary limits but developers get 200k annually – which is away over those limits!!

All of them need to be called to account (in the courts; not in some ultra-expensive useless tribunal)

Multiply by your favourite factor to calculate the number of expensive restaurant vouchers for the choreographing boys in blue. Sorry it was a complete co-incidence that all those photographers happened to assemble at the right place and time and NO NO NO the boys in blue do not accept expensive restaurant vouchers………
