Schools, colleges and childcare services in nine counties to close tomorrow due to storm warnings

Schools in Clare, Cork, Kerry, Donegal, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Waterford and Roscommon will be closed.

SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND childcare facilities have been advised to close tomorrow due to weather warnings from from the national forecaster as Storm Eunice approaches Ireland.

The Department of Education has advised schools in Clare, Cork, Kerry, Waterford Donegal, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon not to open tomorrow.

Met Éireann has issued Status Red wind warnings for Clare, Cork and Kerry from 3am to 8am tomorrow morning. A warning at the ‘red’ level means the storm poses a risk to life and people are encouraged to stay at home in those counties.

A Status Red warning is also in place for Waterford from 7am until 11am.

Status Orange snow and wind warnings have also been issued for Donegal, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Roscommon.

The Department of Children advised early learning and care services and school-age childcare services in these seven counties should not open tomorrow.

The Department of Further and Higher Education has also advised all universities, colleges and further education facilities in these counties should remain closed for the duration of these warnings.

Storm Eunice is to hit Ireland tonight, with severe conditions expected due to strong winds, heavy rain and snow, with gusts of up to 130km/h.

“Met Éireann has advised that this is a multi-hazard event with wind and heavy snow. Storm Eunice will bring heavy sleet and snow leading to blizzard-like conditions in parts with treacherous driving conditions,” the Department of Education said in a statement.

“The storm is expected to impact most during school commuting hours and this will make journeys to school extremely hazardous in the morning in those areas.”

The department said remote teaching and learning should commence where possible.

All other counties may open schools, subject to local conditions, the department said.

What purpose does it serve to let Micky swan around South America? Living the life of luxury while he preaches his Socialist Bullshit here in Ireland? Be gone you fool, we don’t need a president

‘Micky Swan’…. I shall be using that in conversation today.

Couldn’t agree more, if we want to send out trade missions then lets send out experienced business people, not this pointless twerp.

And this little pointless junket cost us how much?, more than some struggling families have to live on in a year. Time to cull these wasteful political positions. I’ve no doubt the President is a genuine and honest man, but we simply cannot afford the baggage while being picked clean by an inept political system stretching back decades.

Glad to see the mentalists didn’t let this go. Head of State in foreign visit shocker! These things have been going on since the days of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Calm down, lads. This is part of his job.

Seeing as impeachment of presidents is in the news today , when will this president be impeached for failure to protect our Constitution?

It seems el Presidente has been on a global junket since being elected. I would be interested to know how much travelling he has done compared to previous presidents.

An awful lot of angry red hands supporting Higgins and his junket. Genuine question, what would they have done if he had to fly back to nationalise debt as he did when at a gig in Rome some time back?
