1 #SHOOTING: Four people were injured, one of them critically, in a gun attack outside a pub on the Old Cabra Road in Dublin last night.

2. #BUDGET: A number of papers this morning are reporting that a new levy on banks is being planned for Tuesday’s budget which is intended to raise up to €200 million for the Government.

3. #FINE GAEL: In a speech at his party’s national conference last night, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said that Ireland will exit the EU-IMF bailout on Sunday, 15 December. He also committed to widening the franchise for Seanad elections to all university graduates.

4. #GILLIGAN: This week’s release of convicted drugs boss John Gilligan features prominently in a number of Sunday papers with The Sunday Times saying gardaí estimate that he has €19 million stashed in overseas accounts.

5. #NAVY: The Irish naval service detained a French registered vessel 120 nautical miles of the Clare coast last night for breaches of fishing regulations. A Spanish vessel had earlier been detained off Cork.

6. #SAVITA: The Sunday Business Post is reporting that health watchdog Hiqa has asked to HSE for regular updates on its progress in implementing its report into the death of Savita Halappanavar.

7. #SHUTDOWN: Five days before the US faces a financial default, Democrats and Republicans are looking towards the Senate to solve the budget impasse according to the New York Times.

8. #PHAILIN: Cyclone Phailin is beginning to lose strength as it passes over India after displacing a million people along the coast. Fears are now turning towards potential flooding.

9. #KEEP ON RUNNIN’: Over thirty-years after they broke the world record by taking on the New York marathon as a foursome, four Tyrone brothers in their 50s plan to run the Dublin marathon together at the end of this month.

    It would make so much sense if airbnb set up in Ireland. It can be such a good full time/part time money maker. I have a lot of friends abroad who rent their place(s) through airbnb and earn a ton from it.

    there is already a surplus of IT jobs in dublin, maybe like the others they will be looking to get in younger, cheaper, multilingual folk. something which there aren’t a whole lot of in Dublin
