We have an exciting opportunity coming up for bright new talent.

JOURNAL MEDIA LTD has dominated the digital news landscape in Ireland since its inception six short years ago. TheJournal.ie, along with sister publications The42, DailyEdge.ie and Fora, are now among the leading mobile online publications in the country.

We have grown our company from a staff of six to over sixty. Do you want to be part of this growth and innovation? Are you a new journalistic talent who wants to be nurtured and supported in an exciting new project? Then you need to get in touch.

TheJournal.ie is delighted to announce that it will be working with the Google News Lab in 2017 to offer an opportunity for one talented student or new graduate the chance to come on board with us for eight weeks for a Fellowship.

The chosen candidate, who will be passionate about journalism and technology, will take part in a digital tools workshop at Google at the beginning of June 2017 before taking up the eight-week paid Fellowship with TheJournal.ie in June and August.

We are looking for a candidate to work on video storytelling within our fast-paced newsroom so multimedia skills and examples of creative visual storytelling will be an advantage in any application.

    Ah post truth journalism. I have previous experience writing on the back of toilet doors. Proficient in gibberish and waffle. No working knowledge of story validation. Whats my chances?

    @Mr D: Pretty poor, I would imagine. With that skillset, you would be unlikely to be of use to a team that has, in 2016, seen one member become Young Business Journalist of the Year, bring home two Justice Law Media awards and is the only Irish news organisation actively tackling the post-truth world with a factchecking resource.

    So many moaning millies commenting on this apprenticeship. Just curious, if you all hate the journal so much, why read it and contribute to its success by commenting on every minor story? You do realize the way to make it less influential is to not actually read it? Do you all watch sky news and read the independent so you can whine about them too?
