SINGER ELTON JOHN has advised new musicians to play in pubs instead of seeking instant fame on TV shows like The X Factor.
The 77-year-old told Rolling Stone UK that aspiring musicians should concentrate on developing their skills through live performances.
“That experience stood me in great stead for when I became Elton John because I had backbone. And backbone is so important, because the worst thing that can happen to you in the industry are things like X Factor and instant fame on television where you have no experience of playing live,” the musician said.
“You get put on stage, you go, and you can’t do it. That’s the worst thing. American Idol — just the worst. Take risks. Go and play in a pub.”

There’s lots of Talented musicians out there not getting the exposure they deserve. There was a time when this was a feature of the Late Late show, but sadly no more

Shows had nothing to do with talent most are mini soap operas/pantomimes actors ie joe public gave performances for free, cheap tv is really what they are about.
So why did Garron get cancelled?

The Garron situation is a joke too. He had to deactivate his account (s) because of harassment and bullying and why? for having an opinion on something.

@Dave Grant: Garron’s point was shite, full of mealy mouthed falsehoods and about the ‘government not letting anyone discuss immigration’. And unsubstantiated tales of people ‘taking advantage’ and crime statistics rising, he then says there are other factors at play, but didn’t bother to mention them. All the same bs the anti-everything brigade trot out dressed up as a centrist take. Maybe he should have stuck to his usual fluff and not a highly divisive issue he didn’t expect a strong reaction from all sides.

@Dave Grant: I mean, he didn’t get cancelled, he didn’t receive a court order to delete his social media accounts. The guy is kinda funny if you’re into chicken fillet-roll discourse, but he spread 3 x falsehoods in saying immigration was causing an increase in crime (factually incorrect), that people can’t speak about immigration (this was a hot topic covered ad nauseum in the lead up to the last General Election on MSM) and that Irish people are becoming a minorIty in their own towns (patently false).
@Mr. Biggins: Alright Rian/Beachvibe/Adam etc etc etc. I never tried to silence anyone in my life. I literally said he shouldn’t be cancelled above. I’ll disagree with them if I don’t agree with their point. As they are free to do with me. The thing I find with people who claim to be the ‘silent majority’ is that they rarely stfu.

I’ll wait. I’ll call out plenty of fake religious types, using it as a tool for the grift. Never people of actual faith, though. Seems the bitter thing to do might to be launch an unprovoked rant accusing me of trying to silence someone when I’ve literally just said in my previous post they shouldn’t be cancelled. Obviously living in your head rent free, as the youth say.

I hope these talents shows find better talents than the Special Talent” (Ryan Tubridy). It was to give him an extra payment.
With social media, a true talent will always rise above the rest.
Talent shows have always been part of Saturday evening viewing as it’s clean family fun for the whole family and kids love them. My problem isn’t necessarily with talent shows per se, it’s the talent show’s that talentless “celebrities” are invited to take part in and are paid handsomely for – eg, Dancing with the Stars. If they’re going to have talent shows on tv – then they should be solely for Joe & Jane Soap who are looking for a break.
I just don’t watch them. They have no strong reaction to me whatsoever. If other people like and enjoy them, that’s good for them. Each to their own. Whatever makes you happy.
Definitely not as enjoyable as they once were. Used to enjoy all the deluded crap singers on XFactor but then it be bullying to laugh at them so they only showed the good or average ones. BGT is well past it’s sell by, and I never liked the voice
Talent is a misused term on most of those shows and across many other shows and stations
All about making money for the celebs or so called painful to watch
The only good show they did was called “The hit” and there was only ever one series.
