XTRA-VISION HAVE backtracked on it’s policy regarding pre-ordered Xbox One consoles.
The company have now said that from today any person who collects their pre-ordered XBox One will not have to purchase an additional game in order to receive their console.
It follows media attention, social media backlash and complaints to the the National Consumer Agency (NCA) over their initial policy which came to light when the console was released last Friday.
In a statement released today, Xtra-vision also said that customers who have already collected their XBox One console and purchased an additional game can receive a refund on the game if the customer has proof of purchase and the game is unopened.

Xtra-vision say that these policy changes apply to all of their stores and on game purchases made between 22 November and 26 November.
The company have also confirmed that customers who have pre-ordered the PlayStation 4, which is released this Friday, will not have to purchase an additional game in order to receive their console.
The change of heart by Xtra-vision has been welcomed by the NCA who called their decision a “successful outcome”.
“Through our intervention with Xtra-vision the NCA has achieved a positive outcome for affected consumers by securing compliance in line with consumer legislation. This action will result in an immediate and real benefit for consumers,” according to NCA chief executive Karen O’Leary.
O’Leary also urged consumers to understand and assert their rights:
If consumers have pre-ordered and paid a deposit or in full for a product then a contract is in place and unless the contract provides otherwise, consumers should not have any additional charges or conditions imposed upon them.
Xtra-vision say they regret any upset or inconvenience the situation has caused to customers.

Good article, would rather pay good money for sturdy clothes if I knew it was made with quality materials and good paid workers than consistently have to buy new clothes to replace the previous bad quality article, always wondered why we don’t have some sort of system like bord bia do with the quality mark to signify it’s of a certain quality spec or something of the sorts
Everybody loves a bargain and most people are looking for good quality clothes in the sales rather than penneys tat. I try to buy during the Black Friday sale or January sales when theres a good percentage off clothes. Don’t like penneys cheap nasty threads.
@Lilly Lalogue: there’s some lovely stuff in Pennys. Those mom and pop type, Irish run boutiques import their clothes from the same mass produced factories as Pennys. They just sew on their fancy label and charge through the nose for them.
